An award-winning start is planned to the 2009/10 membership year which is launched at our April Meeting. The main event of the evening is the PBN Awards, introduced for the first time this year which recognise business and membership achievements. The two business awards, being held in conjunction with the ASB awards, are: · The PBN Most Enterprising Business Award and · The PBN Young Business of the Year Award We have received entries in both categories and applicants have been asked to give a 10-minute presentation at our April meeting to the audience and a panel of three judges. The winner will be decided on the night and go forward to represent PBN in these categories of the ASB awards. Members’ awards being presented are: · The Founders’ Award is presented to a member who has contributed to the success of PBN in 2008/09 as chosen by the Committee. · The PBN Members’ Award is voted for by members and presented in recognition of a fellow members’ support/work for the organisation. · The PBN Contribution to the Community Award is also voted for by members and acknowledges a fellow member who has helped and benefited the local area in any way. · The PBN Chairperson’s Award will be chosen by the Chair and presented to a member for any reason deemed appropriate by the Chair. All awards will be announced on the evening so please come along to support your fellow members who are participating in the business awards categories and you may just be the recipient of an award yourself, courtesy of your fellow members! Prior to the awards, the evening starts at 6.30 pm with the AGM, after which a buffet, provided by The Smart Good Food Shop, will be served with refreshments courtesy of PBN. Nomination forms for Committee posts should be emailed to Sandra White or brought to the meeting. At the April meeting also, PBN will also be presenting a cheque for over £7,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support which was our chosen charity for 2008/09 and we would like to thank everyone who helped in any way in raising this magnificent amount of money which is being put towards the new palliative care building and specialist service due to open at PRI this autumn.
